As we have been excluded from direct contact with the debutants by the highest administration for several years, we would like to take this opportunity to say that we are always available as a „memory platform“ for sharing photos or simply keeping in touch.
Im Fokus der heutigen Pressekonferenz zum 66. Opernball am 8. Februar 2024 standen die beiden Opern-Superstars Elina Garanca und Piotr Beczala, die mit ihren Auftritten den Ball eröffnen werden.
Am musikalischen Programm stehen aber auch die Barcarolle aus Les Contes d’Hoffmann, die Polonaise aus Eugen Onegin, Arien aus Carmen und Don Carlos sowie Agustín Laras Granada.
In einer Neukreation von Star-Choreograph Alexei Ratmansky tanzt das Wiener Staatsballett mit den Solistenpaaren Elena Bottaro – Masayu Kimoto, Sonia Dvořák – Brendan Saye, Alice Firenze – Marcos Menha, Kiyoka Hashimoto – Alexey Popov, Hyo-Jung Kang – Davide Dato, Aleksandra Liashenko – Géraud Wielick, Ketevan Papava – Eno Peci und Claudine Schoch – Duccio Tariello– den Walzer La Séparation von Mykola Lysenko; die Ballettakademie tanzt zur Ecossaise aus Eugen Onegin in einer Choreographie von Christiana Stefanou
Die Choreographie des Einzugs, der Eröffnung und des Eröffnungswalzers obliegt bereits zum vierten Mal dem Geschwisterpaar Maria Angelini-Santner und Christoph Santner. Getanzt wird zur Pepita-Polka von Johann Strauß Sohn.
Die Hauptverantwortlichen für den Ball bleiben zum Vorjahr ident, nur Nadja Swarovski soll nicht mehr dem Organisationskomittee angehören.
Wie im Vorjahr wird auf die Karten und die Gastronomie am Ball ein Solidaritätsaufschlag aufgerechnet.
Today’s press conference for the 66th Opera Ball on 8 February 2024 focused on the two opera superstars Elina Garanca and Piotr Beczala, who will open the ball with their performances.
The musical programme also includes the Barcarolle from Les Contes d’Hoffmann, the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, arias from Carmen and Don Carlos and Agustín Lara’s Granada.
The choreography of the entrance, the opening and the opening waltz will be the responsibility of siblings Maria Angelini-Santner and Christoph Santner for the fourth time. The opening music is the Pepita-Polka by Johann Strauss Sohn.
The main organisers of the ball remain the same as last year, except that Nadja Swarovski will no longer be a member of the organising committee.
As in the previous year, a solidarity surcharge will be added to the tickets and catering at the ball.

Um ins Jungdamen- und Jungherrenkomitee aufgenommen zu werden, müssen einige Voraussetzungen erfüllt werden:
Sie verfügen über sehr gute Linkswalzerkenntnisse
Sie sind mind. 18 und max. 25 (Jungdamen) bzw. max. 28 (Jungherren) Jahre alt
Sie haben den Wiener Opernball noch nicht eröffnet (die Eröffnung ist nur einmalig möglich)
Wir freuen uns auf Ihre Bewerbung mittels Anmeldeformular auf unserer Website. Die Anmeldefrist endet mit 21. September 2023. Bitte haben Sie Verständnis, dass nur Bewerbungen von Tanzpaaren angenommen werden können.
Alle Tanzpaare aus Wien, Niederösterreich und dem Burgenland werden zu einem Vortanzen an einem Samstag im Oktober 2023 in die Wiener Staatsoper eingeladen.
Alle Bewerber*innen, sowohl jene, die vorgetanzt haben, als auch jene, die aus anderen Bundesländern bzw. dem Ausland kommen und den Vortanz-Termin daher nicht wahrnehmen konnten, werden wenige Wochen nach dem Vortanzen per e-Mail informiert, ob sie als Teil des Jungdamen- und Jungherrenkomitees den Wiener Opernball 2024 eröffnen dürfen.
Wir bitten um Verständnis, dass wir uns vorbehalten müssen, Paare, die nicht vorgetanzt haben und die nicht die erforderlichen tänzerischen Voraussetzungen erfüllen, im Rahmen der Proben trotz vorheriger Zusage aus dem Eröffnungskomitee auszuschließen.

Application
To be accepted into the Young Ladies and Young Men’s Committee, a few requirements must be met:
You have very good left-hand waltz skills
You are at least 18 and max. 25 (young ladies) or max. 28 (young men) years old.
You have not yet opened the Vienna Opera Ball (opening is only possible once)
We look forward to receiving your application via the application form on our website. The application deadline is 21 September 2023. Please understand that only applications from dance couples can be accepted.
All dance couples from Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland will be invited to an audition on a Saturday in October 2023 at the Vienna State Opera. All applicants, both those who have auditioned and those who come from other provinces or from abroad and therefore could not attend the audition, will be informed by e-mail a few weeks after the audition whether they may open the Vienna Opera Ball 2024 as part of the Young Ladies‘ and Young Gentlemen’s Committee.
We ask for your understanding that we must reserve the right to exclude couples from the opening committee who have not auditioned and who do not meet the necessary dance requirements during the rehearsals, despite having previously agreed to do so.
